POWER GENERATION

Electrification of New Wind Farm

SEnergy provided turnkey engineering services as a member of the EPC team for this large wind generation project. The wind generation project included fifty-five (55) Vesta V100 (1.815 MW) wind turbine generators in West Texas. The project provided interconnection to the power grid via a 6.0-mile long radial line. SEnergy provided engineering and construction support for substation civil, electrical & structural, protection & control relaying, and the transmission line between the substation and switchyard, as well as inspection services for the duration of the project. The substation includes a 138 kV Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB), 140 MVA Power Transformer (PWT), two feeders (collection) 34.5 kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB), one 34.5 kV VCB for protection of the reactive compensation bank, two 8.1 MVAR capacitor banks and one 10 MVAR DSTATCOM to meet power factor requirements and control house. SE provided coordination and review of engineering studies conducted to determine load flow, short circuit, reactive compensation (power factor), harmonics, Arc Flash, transient over-voltage, insulation coordination, cable ratings, and energy loss.
