Serving as Owner’s Engineer, this project consisted of six GE Jenbacher 8.75 MW reciprocating engine generator sets. We provided advice and consultation to this Client, reviewed design and engineering of major equipment suppliers and engineering/construction contractors, and performed construction inspection and commissioning coordination. We also provided turn‐key EPC services for the GSU step‐up substation for this plant. The substation included all structural steel, aluminum bus work, and 145 kV disconnect switches necessary to connect two power transformers to a 138 kV substation. We programmed and updated ladder logic for the proprietary General Electric generator control system, for automation functions including automatic start/stop of the generators based on market conditions. We also programmed various additional automation functions into the generator controls and continue to provide support to the generation plant for updates to the ladder logic as needed. Scope of work included: Owner’s Engineer for the complete generation plant, station design, protection and control, construction coordination and inspection, ERCOT filings, and coordinating commissioning.
