SEnergy’s substation engineering group is a multi-disciplined team of engineers and technicians. We design greenfield and retrofit substations for electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, and industrial clients across Texas.
Choose traditional engineering or a full turnkey EPC solution. Either way, you get complete engineering, construction management, project inspection, and full protection and control engineering, including relay setting development.
New greenfield stations or upgrades to the ones you already run. We design the arrangement that fits your system and leave room for the transformers and feeder breakers you will add later.
Our engineers design the whole station across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines, with every design sealed by a Professional Engineer. That includes topographic surveys, grading and cut/fill plans, foundation layouts with spill containment, rigid bus and conductor analysis, lightning protection, and grounding studies in CDEGS, along with the SWPPP and SPCC plans each site needs.
We provide full protection and control engineering for our projects, including relay setting development. Our work covers modern solid-state protection and controls, real-time monitoring, and telecommunications design, backed by protection and coordination studies. On our new 138 kV substation in Central Texas, we prepared the settings for its SEL relays.
We write the specifications for major equipment, procure structures and materials, coordinate with vendors, and handle construction bidding and contracting. During construction we provide construction management, inspection, and quality control, with routine site visits and inspection reports that document issues with photographs.
We support commissioning and see each project through to the end, including ERCOT filings, as-built drawings, and project close-out and certification.

Power quality engineering as part of our substation work. Our projects have included capacitor banks for power factor correction and review of reactive compensation and harmonics studies.
Equipment specifications, procurement, and construction bidding and contracting for the station. We procure major equipment, structures, and materials, coordinate vendors, and inspect the work.
Acceptance testing and commissioning to bring the station into service. We make routine site visits along the way and handle ERCOT filings, project close-out, and certification.
Environmental planning and reporting for the station site. We prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and design stormwater detention backed by hydraulic and hydrologic analyses.
Survey and documentation from before construction through close-out. Topographic surveys and site maps set the baseline, and “As-Built” drawings record the finished station.

Our engineers are trained and certified in electric utility substation design, and every design is sealed by a Professional Engineer.
Civil, structural, electrical, relaying and control, telecommunications, and transmission engineers work from one coordinated set of drawings.
Hire us for design-bid-build, or let one team carry the station from site survey to commissioning, ERCOT filings, and close-out.
We define project requirements, write the specification, help select the EPC contractor, review designs, and support construction and commissioning.
SEnergy combines technical expertise, industry knowledge, and a commitment to Client success to deliver dependable power generation solutions. Whether you’re developing a new facility, upgrading existing infrastructure, or implementing innovative distributed energy systems, we’re ready to help you achieve your goals.
